Your Intrepid Blogger

Michael P. Borgia, a resident of New Castle, DE, is keeper and master of the internet blog Daily Borg. The site has existed in some form or another since prior to the 2000 election and has been published continuously since that time, though under its current name since 2007. He was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1965. He moved with his family to New Jersey in 1979. Except for a brief period of residence in Florida, Michael lived in New Jersey continuously until 2003.

Michael has been an avid follower of politics since childhood. He is an avid reader of political material. His first political read was the 1979 manifesto of former President Richard Nixon, titled The Real War, a devastating critique of the failures of the Carter Administration to deal with the Soviets and our economy. He voted for the first time in 1984 at the age of 19, bypassing the 1983 off year legislative election in New Jersey, so that he could cast his first vote for Ronald Reagan. He began writing in the late 1990's and founded his blog in early 2000.

After graduation in 1989, Michael fulfilled his dream of being a professional pilot. He worked for several years as a flight instructor building time and experience in more than thirty different aircraft types. He then spent a few years flying charter in light turboprops. But he loved instructing enough to return to it, working for a large national flight school for four years in 1996 and now working for a large provider of high fidelity simulator training for corporate jets. Michael is type rated on four jets and currently instructs on the Dassault Falcon 50 and Falcon 900. He is an FAA designated examiner for type certification for both airplanes and has been a designated examiner on four airplanes in total. In 2006, Michael was tapped to lead the transfer of the Falcon training programs to his New Castle base. As Program Manager, Michael launched the multi-million dollar program and created a dozen high paying jobs in his local area. As a pilot and instructor, Michael has amassed nearly 7,000 flying hours, of which over 5,500 have been spent teaching people of all ages and professional levels to fly.

Michael has always been active in his local Republican Party. He currently serves as Treasurer for the Colonial Region for the Republican State Committee of Delaware. Michael is also an avid amateur astronomer who currently owns four telescopes. He has frequently written in these pages and others about the insidious creep of light pollution on our evening skies and occassionally lectures at local astronomy clubs. Though Michael has been writing about politics for nearly ten years, his first book (and only book to date) is an astronomy book titled Human Vision And The Night Sky: How To Improve Your Observing Skills (Springer, 2006). Michael teaches amateur astronomers wishing to advance beyond the entry level to understand and appreciate what it is they actually see in the eyepiece of the telescope. Michael's greatest role however is as father to his ten-year old son Robbie.

Michael P. Borgia is available for public presentations and lectures for reasonable fees and expenses (he doesn't eat all that much). Michael can be contacted at mborgia@comcast.net
